Product Description:
- Dermovate Cream is a very potent (super high potency) topical corticosteroid. It is a prescription-only medication used to treat severe and persistent inflammatory skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and various forms of dermatitis. It works by reducing swelling, redness, and itching associated with these conditions. The cream formulation is generally best for moist or less dry skin areas.
How to Use:
- Apply a thin, even layer of the cream to the affected area(s) and gently rub it in until it is fully absorbed.
- Use once or twice daily for up to 4 weeks, or as directed by your doctor.
- Do not exceed a maximum weekly dose of 50 grams.
- Wash your hands before and after applying the cream unless your hands are the treated area.
- For persistent lesions, your doctor may recommend using an occlusive dressing (like plastic film) overnight to enhance the effect.
- If using a dressing, ensure the skin is clean before applying.
Warnings and Precautions:
- Do not use for more than 4 weeks consecutively without a doctor's supervision. Long-term use can lead to side effects like skin thinning, stretch marks, and systemic effects.
- Do not use on children under one year of age. In children over one year, treatment should be limited to only a few days and reviewed weekly by a doctor.
- Do not use on the face for more than a few days, as the skin is more susceptible to atrophic changes. Do not use occlusive dressings on the face.
- Do not use on or near the eyelids, as repeated exposure can lead to cataracts or glaucoma.
- Avoid use on untreated skin infections (bacterial, fungal, viral), rosacea, acne, perioral dermatitis, or itching without inflammation.
- Be cautious if you have a history of local hypersensitivity to corticosteroids.
- Fabric (clothing, bedding, dressings, etc.) that has been in contact with Dermovate can burn more easily and is a serious fire hazard. Avoid smoking or going near naked flames. Washing can reduce product buildup but may not remove it completely.
