Dexilant 30 Mg 14 Capsules
Product Description
- Dexilant® is a dual-delayed-release proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) that contains dexlansoprazole, the R-enantiomer of lansoprazole.
- Each capsule houses two types of enteric-coated granules that dissolve at different pH levels, providing two peak plasma concentrations and up to 24-hour acid suppression in a single daily dose.
Indications:
- Healing of all grades of erosive esophagitis (EE)
Maintenance of healed EE and relief of heartburn
Symptomatic non-erosive GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease)

If swallowing is difficult, open the capsule and sprinkle intact granules onto 1 tablespoon of applesauce; swallow immediately without chewing .

Warnings & Precautions:
- Gastric Malignancy: Symptom relief does not rule out gastric malignancy; investigate further if alarm symptoms (dysphagia, bleeding, weight loss) persist .
- Acute Interstitial Nephritis (AIN): Discontinue if AIN is suspected (fever, rash, worsening renal function).
- Vitamin B-12 Deficiency: Prolonged use (> 3 years) may reduce absorption; monitor levels in high-risk patients.
- Clostridioides difficile–associated diarrhea: Consider diagnosis in persistent diarrhea.
- Bone Fracture: Long-term, high-dose PPI therapy increases the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures of hip, wrist, or spine.
- Hypomagnesemia: Rare; monitor magnesium levels if symptoms (tremor, arrhythmias) appear.
Drug Interactions:
- Methotrexate – serum levels may rise; consider temporary withdrawal of Dexilant during high-dose methotrexate.
Rilpivirine-containing products – contraindicated (reduces antiviral efficacy).
Warfarin, clopidogrel, digoxin, tacrolimus, atazanavir – adjust doses or monitor INR, levels, or therapeutic effects .
