What Insulin Neutral is used for:

Insulin Neutral is a man-made fast acting insulin that is used to control high blood sugar in adults and children with diabetes mellitus.


Do not use Insulin Neutral:

Do not use Insulin Neutral if you: 

  • are having an episode of low blood sugar. 
  • have an allergy to human insulin or any of the ingredients in Insulin Neutral.


Warnings and Precautions:

  • Tell your healthcare provider about all your medical conditions including, if you: 
  • have liver or kidney problems. 
  • have heart failure or other heart problems


Possible side effects of Insulin Neutral:

Insulin Neutral can cause serious side effects. These side effects happen only to a small number of people and include:

  • low blood sugar 
  • severe allergic reaction 
  • low potassium in your blood
  • heart failure


Other medicines and Insulin Neutral:

Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take especially ones called thiazolidinediones, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, or herbal supplements.


How to use Insulin Neutral

  • Use Insulin Neutral exactly as your healthcare provider tells you to. 
  • Use Insulin Neutral 30 minutes before eating a meal. 
  • Inject Insulin Neutral under the skin of your upper legs, upper arms, buttocks or stomach area. Do not inject Insulin Neutral into your vein or muscle. 
  • Change your injection sites within the area you choose with each dose to reduce your risk of getting lipodystrophy (pits in skin or thickened skin) and localized cutaneous amyloidosis (skin with lumps) at the injection sites. 


How to store Insulin Neutral:

  • Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date, which is stated on the vial label and carton after ‘EXP’. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
  • Before opening: Store in a refrigerator at 2°C – 8°C. Keep away from the cooling element. Do not freeze.
  • During use or when carried as a spare: Do not refrigerate or freeze. You can carry it with you and keep it at room temperature (below 25ºC) for up to 6 weeks.
  • Always keep the vial in the outer carton when you are not using it, in order to protect from light.
  • Discard the needle and syringe after each injection.
  • Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
