How to choose the perfect face wash for you

The first step towards adopting an effective skincare routine is to know your skin type. Not knowing your skin type makes you fall into the mistake of choosing unsuitable products that may lead to an increase in your skin problem or even develop new ones that you are better off without.

Is soap good for face washing?

Most of the soap types dry out the skin and make it lose its essential natural fat. They are usually not gentle cleaners and you are not advised to use them for face washing. Instead, you are advised to use a face wash suitable for your skin type and free from components that may cause irritation to your skin.

What is the correct way to wash your face?

The correct method for face washing starts with making foam on your face by applying gentle circular hand motions without rubbing or any fast movements. Then wash your face with lukewarm water and take your time until you are sure no leftover foam remaining.

Washing oily skin:

If your face skin is oily, you need to use a face wash designed for oily skin. Start by washing your face with lukewarm water to remove most of the excess oils then apply a face wash suitable for oily skin to create a thick foam by making circular motions with the tips of your fingers. Leave it for a few seconds and wash it with lukewarm water. Make sure no remaining foam is left on your skin. Face wash leaves your skin clean and removes the undesirable oily shine.

Washing dry skin and sensitive skin:

If you have dry or sensitive skin you have to take extra care in selecting the products that suit your type of skin. Those products must be free from alcohol, perfumes, and preservatives which may cause skin irritation to the dry or sensitive skin. Therefore, you are encouraged to choose products that contain ingredients with calming effects such as camomile, Aloe Vera, green tea, and honey.

Avoid using hot water and wash only with lukewarm water. Hot water burns the dry or sensitive skin and causes severe damages to its cells. It is also important to remember that no rubbing or scrubbing is applied during washing or drying. Also, use a gentle and soft towel to dry your skin by patting it only.

Dry and sensitive skin is a delicate type of skin and needs to be dealt with gently with the use of light products. So use light cleansers and nourishing creams that contain natural oils and fatty acids that dry and sensitive skin needs to be properly moisturized.
