Diltiazem Hydrochloride is used to treat:

• Chest pain caused by decreased blood flow to the heart (angina).
• High blood pressure (hypertension).

Do not take Diltiazem Hydrochloride:

• If you’re allergic to the active substance or any other component of this medicine.
• If you have a heart problem called sick sinus syndrome (unless you have a pacemaker).
• If you have heart conduction problem called AV block.
• If you have a slow heartbeat.
• If you have a low blood pressure.
• If you recently had a heart attack or a clot in the lung (pulmonary embolism).

Warnings and precautions:

• Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before taking this medicine including:
• If you suffer from heart failure.
• If you have any heart problems.
• If you have liver or kidney problems.
• If you have diabetes.

Possible side effects:

• Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you develop rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Serious side effects:

• Allergic reactions
• Difficulty breathing
• Severe skin rash
• Slow heartbeat
• Fast heartbeat

• Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking.
• Diltiazem interacts with a lot of medicine including:

• Dantrolene
• Ivabradine
• Beta blockers
• Digoxin
• Medicines for blood pressure
• Medicines that affect your heartbeat
• Medicines used for fits
• Statins used for cholesterol
• Anesthetics
• Lithium
• Rifampin
• Theophylline

How to take Diltiazem Hydrochloride :

• This medicine is intended for adults.
• Take as indicated by your doctor.
• Do not break of crush extended release tablets.
• Swallow them whole.
• Take the long acting capsules with food.
• Angina: The usual dosing is 60 mg – 120 mg 2 times daily or 200 mg once daily.
• High blood pressure: the usual dosing is 60-120 mg 2 times daily or 200 mg once daily.
• Your doctor will adjust the dose for you if necessary.

How to store Diltiazem Hydrochloride :

• Store at room temperature below 86°F (30°C).
• Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.
• The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

*Dosage form and route of administration of Diltiazem Hydrochloride 90 mg prolonged release tablets, 120 mg prolonged release tablets, 200 mg prolonged release capsules, 300 mg prolonged release capsules should be prescribed according to therapeutic indication and disease severity of each individual patient.
