Andrew Petrou, Skin Doctors Skincare Expert’s Top Tip:
“This treatment cream is a perfectly balanced formula for many skincare concerns such as acne scarring, pigmentations and ageing. These key ingredients include:

  1. Glycolic acid is a small molecular structure favoured by dermatologists
  2. Salicylic acid that works to clean pores
  3. The lactic acid that contains moisture-binding benefits.”

The science:

Radiance & Renew contains acid exfoliants that are often a more effective way to reap the benefits of exfoliation as they are capable of removing more built-up skin cells that are causing dryness, blackheads, blemishes and wrinkles when compared to physical exfoliators. Possibly more important is that they provide additional skincare benefits in addition to the exfoliation. AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) and BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids) within Radiance & Renew are the two classes of chemical exfoliants. BHAs are most frequently recommended for acne because they can get down into pores, while AHAs tend to be recommended for anti-ageing benefits and skin texture improvements. This is not to say that AHAs are not beneficial to acne-prone skin or that BHAs are only for acne-prone skin, together they work harmoniously to create a successful acne skin care fighting treatment cream.

How to use:
At night, cleanse your face thoroughly and pat dry. Apply a smooth, thin, even layer of cream over your face, or treatment area. For sensitive skin, begin using once or twice a week to build tolerance and gradually increase usage. A slight tingling sensation is normal, if you experience a severe sensation discontinue use.

Caution & Warnings:

Prior to use, patch test on a small section of the treatment area and wait 24 hours. If irritation develops, discontinue use. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, broken, damaged or irritated skin. For external use only. Contains Benzophenone-3.

Sunburn alert:
This product may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen protection SPF30+, wear protective clothing and limit sun exposure while using this product.

Store below 30°C.

Ingredients:

Key Actives:
Glycolic Acid – Belongs to the class Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), commonly known as ‘fruit acids’ and occurs naturally in sugar cane juice. It is considered to be the most effective AHA because it has a small molecular structure allowing it to penetrate the surface of the skin more readily.

Lactic Acid – Also a type of AHA and is derived from sour milk and grain. Its benefits to the skin have been well documented for centuries, even Cleopatra’s beautiful skin is attributed to her bathing in milk.

Both Glycolic and Lactic Acids work by loosening or breaking up the thick outer layer of skin. Through this microscopic exfoliation activity, these AHAs smooth the skin’s texture problems including acne, fine wrinkles, pigmentation, and skin expressions. They also have the fantastic benefit of kick-starting your skin into its natural regeneration, stimulating collagen and the skin growth cycle.

Salicylic Acid – Classed as a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA), this type of acid can be a little milder than AHAs, but this doesn’t mean they are less potent. In fact, while BHAs essentially work the same as AHAs, they have certain talents that AHAs don’t have. Salicylic Acid encourages the sloughing of dead skin cells as AHAs do, but they also have the ability to penetrate into the pores, while AHAs do not. This advantage makes it very effective for improving blemishes, by breaking down blackheads and whiteheads and clearing clogged pores.

FAQs:

Q) How does Radiance & Renew work?
A) Radiance & Renew from Skin Doctors features a synergy of glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acids for the ultimate in skin renewal resurfacing. It combines the exfoliating actions of AHA’s and BHA’s to loosen the ‘cement’ that binds the dead skin in the stratum corneum to accelerate faster shedding of this layer.

Q) What skin types is Radiance & Renew suitable for?
A) Suitable for all skin types, Radiance & Renew will particularly benefit ageing, dry and oily skin types. For oily skin, the inclusion of salicylic acid can improve blemishes by reducing the appearance of blackheads and white heads, whilst decongesting clogged pores that penetrate the surface of the skin to deliver fantastic resurfacing benefits; reducing pore size and improving skin texture and colour, to reveal the younger, healthier skin below.

Q) How often should I use Radiance & Renew?
A) To start off with it is recommended to use the product 2 times a week to ease skin into the activities. You can then introduce using the resurfacing treatment more after the skin has become used to the actives. It is recommended to use Skin Doctors Skin Active Night after this product to hydrate and protect the skin after the resurfacing peel.

Q) Is this product vegan?
A) Yes, this product has a vegan-friendly formulation that can be applied topically to the skin.
