Goserelin 3.6 mg subcutaneous implant


What Goserelin is used for

Goserelin (3.6 mg) is used in women to:

·         Treat breast cancer.

·         Treat endometriosis.

·         Treat uterine fibroids.

·         Make the lining of the womb thinner before an operation.

·         Treat infertility (along with other medicines).

Goserelin (3.6 mg and 10.8 mg) is used in men to treat prostate cancer.


Do not use Goserelin

·         If you’re allergic to the active substance or any other component of this medicine.

·         If you are pregnant or breast-feeding.


Warnings and precautions

Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before taking this medicine including:

·         If you have a high blood pressure.

·         If you have any heart or blood vessel conditions.

·         If you have any condition that affects the strength of your bones or family history of bone problems.

For men, also tell your doctor:

·         If you have problems passing urine or problems with your back.

·         If you have diabetes.

This medicine may cause depression. If you are taking Goserelin and develop depressed mood, talk to your doctor.


Possible side effects

Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you develop rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Serious side effects:

·         Allergic reactions

·         Injection site injury: contact your doctor if you experience severe abdominal pain, dizziness and altered levels of consciousness


Other medicines and Goserelin

·         Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking.

·         Goserelin may interact with medicines used for heart rhythm problems or may cause heart rhythm problems when used with some other medicines such as Methadone, Moxifloxacin, and antipsychotic medications.


How to use Goserelin 

·         The 10.8 mg implant can only be used in men. Do not use it if you are a woman.

·         Use as indicated by your doctor.

·         Goserelin is given as a shot under the skin.

·         The 3.6 mg implant is injected under the skin on your stomach every four weeks (28 days).

·         For men, the 10.8 mg implant is injected under the skin on your stomach every 12 weeks.


How to store Goserelin 

·         Store below 77°F (25°C).

·         Keep this medicine out of reach of children.

·         Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

*Dosage form and route of administration of Goserelin 10.8 mg subcutaneous implant should be prescribed according to therapeutic indication and disease severity of each individual patient.
