Product Description:
- Ecinq is an emergency contraceptive that can prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure
- The active ingredient, ulipristal, works by stopping or delaying the release of an egg from the ovary and may also make it harder for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus
- Ecinq can be taken within 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sex, but the sooner you take it, the more effective it is
- Ecinq is not a regular form of birth control and should not be used more than once in a menstrual cycle
- Ecinq does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or HIV
How To Use:
- Take one Ecinq tablet by mouth as soon as possible and not more than 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure
- You can take Ecinq at any time during your menstrual cycle and with or without food
- If you vomit within 3 hours of taking Ecinq, contact your doctor or pharmacist to discuss if you need to take another tablet
- After taking Ecinq, you should use a barrier method of contraception (such as a condom or diaphragm) until your next period
- You should wait at least 5 days before starting or resuming hormonal contraception (such as pills, injections, implants, patches, or rings), as they may reduce the effectiveness of Ecinq and vice versa
Cautions & Warnings:
- Do not use Ecinq if you are allergic to ulipristal or any of the other ingredients of Ecinq (listed in section 4)
- Do not use Ecinq if you are already pregnant or think you might be pregnant. Ecinq is not an abortion pill and will not terminate an existing pregnancy
- Do not use Ecinq if you have not yet started having periods or if you are past menopause
- Do not use Ecinq if you have liver disease, ectopic pregnancy, chronic diarrhea, or bleeding disorders
- Do not use Ecinq if you have blood or pus in your stools, fever, severe abdominal pain, or signs of a serious infection. These may indicate a more serious condition that requires medical attention
- Do not use Ecinq in combination with other emergency contraceptives, antiseptics, or herbal products (such as St. John’s wort), as they may interfere with the effectiveness of ulipristal
- If you have any medical conditions or are taking any medications, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Ecinq. Some medications may interact with ulipristal and affect its efficacy or safety
- If you experience severe skin reactions, such as rash, itching, swelling, or blisters, stop taking Ecinq and seek medical help immediately. These may be signs of an allergic reaction to ulipristal1^.
- If your period is more than 7 days late, irregular, lighter, or heavier than usual, take a pregnancy test and consult your doctor. You may be pregnant or have another condition that needs treatment1^.
