About Product

Product Overview:

  • Diprolene Ointment (Betamethasone Dipropionate) is a potent corticosteroid medication used for topical application to the skin. It is prescribed to treat various inflammatory and itching skin conditions that respond to corticosteroid therapy, such as eczema and psoriasis, by reducing redness, swelling, and itching.

How it works?:

  • Topical betamethasone belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids. Topical corticosteroids may help reduce inflammation in your skin by calming the immune system's defense cells (white blood cells). They may also stop these cells from releasing substances that cause inflammation. These medicines may also narrow blood vessels where they are applied, which may help to reduce swelling.

Benefits:

  • Topical betamethasone is commonly used to treat skin conditions that cause inflammation and itchiness, including plaque psoriasis, a skin condition that can cause an itchy, painful rash with raised patches of skin.

  • Topical betamethasone may also be used for other conditions as determined by your health care provider.

Directions for Use:

  • Wash your hands before and after using this medicine, unless you are using the medicine to treat the skin on your hands.

  • Apply a small amount to the affected area and rub it gently into the skin. Do not apply betamethasone cream, gel, ointment, lotion, foam, or spray over a large area of skin.

  • Do not cover the treated skin area unless your doctor tells you to. Covering treated areas can increase the amount of medicine absorbed through your skin and may cause harmful effects.

Active Ingredient(s):

  • Betamethasone Dipropionate 0.05%

Side Effects:

  • itching, redness, burning, stinging, or blistering of treated skin;

  • skin bruising or shiny appearance; or

  • folliculitis (redness or crusting around your hair follicles).

Cautions & Warnings:

  • Do not use betamethasone longer than you have been told to by your doctor. Use care when using on a large part of the skin. Talk with your doctor.

  • Do not use to treat diaper rash or redness. Avoid applying betamethasone cream, gel, ointment, lotion, foam, or spray to the diaper area.

Pregnancy Warnings:

  • It is not known if or how topical betamethasone could affect pregnancy or harm an unborn baby. Tell your health care provider if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.

Breastfeeding Warnings:

  • It is not known if topical betamethasone passes into breast milk. Tell your health care provider if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. Your health care provider will advise you if you should use topical betamethasone while breastfeeding. If you breastfeed while using topical betamethasone, do not get it on your nipple or area around your nipple so your baby does not contact the medicine.

Storage:

  • Topical betamethasone should be stored at room temperature, between 68 F to 77 F (20 C to 25 C). It can be exposed to temperatures between 59 F to 86 F (15 C to 30 C) for shorter periods of time, such as when transporting it. Store in a cool, dry place. Do not freeze it. Throw away the spray 28 days after first using it.
