About Product

Product Description:

  • Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride (14 mg per 5 ml) is the primary active ingredient — a first-generation H1-receptor inverse agonist that suppresses the medullary cough centre in the brainstem and blocks histamine-driven airway inflammation, delivering combined antitussive, antihistaminic, and anticholinergic action in a single molecule; its antitussive effect operates independently of its antihistaminic effect as confirmed by pharmacological studies (NCBI StatPearls, NBK526010; SFDA, drugId 4942).

  • Ammonium Chloride (135 mg per 5 ml) acts as a saline expectorant — it mildly irritates the gastric mucosa, triggering a vagally mediated reflex that stimulates bronchial mucous gland secretion, increasing mucus volume and reducing its viscosity to facilitate clearance of congestive airway secretions in adults and children aged 6 years and over (Merck Pharmacology Reference; SFDA, drugId 4942).

  • Exylin Syrup is indicated for the relief of cough and associated congestive symptoms due to colds and allergies in adults, the elderly, and children aged 6 to 12 years; it is contraindicated in children under 6 years of age (SFDA, drugId 4942).

How To Use:

  • Adults and children aged 12 years and over: 5–10 ml (1–2 teaspoons) up to 4 times daily, maximum 40 ml per day; children aged 6–12 years: 5 ml (1 teaspoon) up to 4 times daily — always use the measuring spoon provided and do not exceed the stated daily dose (SFDA, drugId 4942).

  • This medicine is strictly contraindicated in children under 6 years of age; do not administer to this age group under any circumstances, and always follow the exact dosage prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist (SFDA, drugId 4942).

  • Do not use for more than 5 consecutive days without consulting a doctor; if symptoms worsen, persist, or are accompanied by high fever, stop treatment immediately and seek medical advice — do not repeat the course without professional guidance (SFDA, drugId 4942).

Warnings And Precautions:

  • As a first-generation antihistamine, Diphenhydramine commonly causes drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, and urinary retention due to its anticholinergic properties — avoid concurrent use with MAOIs, antidepressants, barbiturates, minor tranquillisers, anticholinergic drugs, codeine, or alcohol, as additive CNS sedation and anticholinergic effects may occur (Felleskatalogen, 1st-generation antihistamine risk class; SFDA, drugId 4942).

  • Do not use if the patient has asthma, a persistent or productive cough, narrow-angle glaucoma, benign prostatic hyperplasia, difficulty urinating, or moderate-to-severe hepatic or renal dysfunction; stop treatment immediately and consult a doctor if allergic reactions develop such as skin rash, blistering, facial or neck swelling, shortness of breath, or sudden drop in blood pressure (SFDA, drugId 4942).

  • Store below 30°C, do not refrigerate or freeze, keep out of reach of children, and discard the bottle 30 days after first opening; overdose may cause drowsiness, anticholinergic effects, CNS excitation, hallucinations, convulsions, or cardiovascular collapse requiring emergency treatment with gastric emptying, activated charcoal, and symptomatic support (SFDA, drugId 4942).

Ingredients:

  • Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride 14 mg / 5 ml — primary active ingredient; first-generation H1-receptor inverse agonist with brainstem-mediated antitussive action, histamine receptor blockade, and anticholinergic drying of bronchial and nasal secretions (NCBI StatPearls, NBK526010).

  • Ammonium Chloride 135 mg / 5 ml — expectorant active ingredient; stimulates bronchial mucous secretion via a vagally mediated reflex on the gastric mucosa, reducing mucus viscosity and promoting productive clearance of airway congestion (NCBI Bookshelf, NBK559163; SFDA, drugId 4942).

  • Menthol 1.1 mg / 5 ml — secondary active ingredient; TRPM8 receptor agonist on trigeminal nasal afferent neurons producing a cooling sensation that reduces cough reflex sensitivity and provides a decongestant effect on the upper airway (PubMed, PMID 23640596).

  • Excipients — Sodium Benzoate, Raspberry Flavour, Caramel, Citric Acid Anhydrous, Saccharin Sodium, Sodium Citrate Anhydrous, Ponceau 4R (E124), Red Dye, Ethanol 96%, Glycerol, Sucrose Granular, Purified Water (SFDA, drugId 4942).
