Gyno-Daktarin Miconazole Nitrate 20 mg/gm Vaginal Cream - 78 gm
- Brand: Gyno-Daktarin
- Ingredient: Miconazole
- Product Form: Vaginal Cream
- Quantity: 1 Pc
Product Overview:
Gyno-Daktarin (Miconazole Nitrate) is the nitrate salt form of miconazole, an antifungal synthetic derivative of imidazole and used in the treatment of candidal skin infections, Miconazole selectively affects the integrity of fungal cell membranes, high in ergosterol content and different in composition from mammalian cells membranes. This product contains 78 gm Vaginal Cream.

Key Features:
- Miconazole nitrate exhibits fungicidal activity in vitro against species of the genus Candida. The pharmacologic mode of action is unknown. Following intravaginal administration of miconazole nitrate, small amounts are absorbed.
How it Works:
Miconazole nitrate exerts its antifungal and antibacterial activity by altering cell membrane permeability; its site of action on cell membranes has not been elucidated. As a result of this alteration of permeability, the cell membrane is unable to function as a selective barrier, and potassium and other cellular constituents are lost.
Benefits:
- Miconazole is used to treat skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, and other fungal skin infections (candidiasis). This medication is also used to treat a skin condition known as pityriasis (tinea versicolor), a fungal infection that causes a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs. Miconazole is an azole antifungal that works by preventing the growth of fungus.
Directions for Use:
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
- Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.

Miconazole Nitrate Vaginal Cream USP, 2% may be considered for use under these conditions.
- Fertility (Reproduction): Oral administration of miconazole nitrate in rats has been reported to produce prolonged gestation. However, this effect was not observed in oral rabbit studies. In addition, signs of fetal and embryo toxicity were reported in rat and rabbit studies, and dystocia was reported in rat studies after oral doses at and above 80 mg per kg. Intravaginal administration did not produce these effects in rats.
- Pregnancy : Since imidazoles are absorbed in small amounts from the human vagina, they should not be used in the first trimester of pregnancy unless the physician considers it essential to the welfare of the patient.
- Clinical studies, during which miconazole nitrate vaginal cream and suppositories were used for up to 14 days, were reported to include 541 pregnant patients. Follow-up reports available in 471 of these patients reveal no adverse effects or complications attributable to miconazole nitrate therapy in infants born to these women.
- Nursing Mothers : It is not known whether miconazole is excreted in human milk. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk, caution should be exercised when miconazole nitrate is administered to a nursing woman.
