Product Description

KETOVA contains imatinib, a protein-tyrosine kinase inhibitor that blocks specific signals involved in the growth of certain abnormal cells.

Indications: Who is it for?

Used for selected patients with certain blood cancers and solid tumors, including Ph-positive CML, Ph-positive ALL, selected MDS/MPD, aggressive systemic mastocytosis, HES/CEL, and DFSP.

How to Use

Take by mouth with food and a large glass of water. Swallow the tablet whole when possible. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without consulting your doctor.

Dosage & Administration

The dose is individualized according to the condition, disease severity, response, tolerability, other medicines, and body size in children. Adult doses commonly range from 400 mg to 800 mg daily.

Warnings & Precautions

Tell your doctor if you have heart, liver, kidney, stomach or bowel problems, thyroid disease, hepatitis B history, or fluid retention. Regular blood, liver, kidney, and other monitoring may be required. Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice unless advised otherwise.

Possible Side Effects

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, headache, dizziness, tiredness, muscle cramps, muscle or joint pain, rash, itching, swelling, fluid retention, and changes in blood counts or laboratory results.

Drug Interactions

KETOVA may interact with certain antifungal, antibiotic, epilepsy, tuberculosis, HIV, blood-thinning, cholesterol, blood-pressure, pain, and immunosuppressive medicines, as well as St John’s wort.

Contraindications

Do not take KETOVA if you are allergic to imatinib, imatinib mesylate, or any of its ingredients.
