Nubeqa contains the active ingredient darolutamide, an androgen receptor inhibitor used to treat prostate cancer. It works by blocking the effects of male hormones (androgens), helping slow the growth and spread of prostate cancer cells.
Indications: Who is it for?
Nubeqa is indicated for the treatment of adult men with non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer or metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer. It may be used with docetaxel as prescribed by the doctor.
How to use
Take the tablets exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablets whole with water and take them with food. Do not crush, split, or chew the tablets.
Dosage & Administration
The recommended dose is two 300 mg tablets twice daily with food. Your doctor may reduce the dose to one tablet twice daily if you have liver or kidney problems. Do not take more than four tablets per day.
Warnings & Precautions
Tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or heart problems, or if you have had vascular surgery. Inform your doctor about all medicines you are taking, as Nubeqa may interact with certain medications. This medicine is not intended for women or children and may reduce male fertility. Men with partners who are pregnant or could become pregnant should use effective contraception during treatment and for one week after stopping therapy.
Possible Side Effects
Common side effects include fatigue, low neutrophil count, increased liver enzymes and bilirubin, rash, pain in the arms or legs, and bone fractures. When used with docetaxel, high blood pressure and breast enlargement in men may also occur.
Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor if you are taking rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, St. John's wort, rosuvastatin, atorvastatin, methotrexate, sulfasalazine, or any other medicines.
Contraindications
Do not take Nubeqa if you are allergic to darolutamide or any of its ingredients. It must not be used by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant.
