About Product

Product Overview:

  • Oratab (Sumatriptan) is a prescription medicine used to treat acute migraine headaches. Sumatriptan works by narrowing blood vessels around the brain and reducing substances in the body that can trigger headache pain, nausea, sensitivity to light, and sound. Sumatriptan treats acute migraine, it will not prevent migraine or reduce the number of migraine attacks.

  • Sumatriptan is taken at the first sign of migraine symptoms and usually starts to work within 30 minutes; injections work more quickly. Sumatriptan is available as oral tablets, a nasal spray, and injections.

  • Sumatriptan may also be used for other conditions as determined by your healthcare provider.
  • This product contains 6 Film Coated Tablets.

Key Features:

  • It is used to treat migraine headaches.

  • Migraine symptoms may be caused by the temporary widening of blood vessels in the head. It is believed to reduce the widening of these blood vessels.

  • This in turn helps to take away the headache and relieve other symptoms of a migraine attack, such as feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting) and sensitivity to light and sound.

How It Works?:

  • Sumatriptan is in a class of medicines known as triptans. Migraine and cluster headaches likely have different causes, but both may involve a widening of blood vessels in the brain, which leads to pain and inflammation. There may also be changes in brain chemicals, such as serotonin. Triptans work by narrowing blood vessels, which eases the pain. They also block nerve signals that cause symptoms like nausea and sensitivity to light and sound.
