Product Description

Oseltamivir PPI contains oseltamivir phosphate, an antiviral medication belonging to neuraminidase inhibitors. It works by preventing the spread of the influenza virus in the body and helps reduce or prevent flu symptoms.

What is this medication?

An antiviral medicine used to treat and prevent influenza (flu) infection.

Indications: Who is it for?

• Adults, adolescents, children, and infants (including newborns) for treatment of flu


• Prevention of flu after exposure


• Used during epidemics or pandemics when needed

How to use

• Take as prescribed by your doctor


• Start as soon as possible (preferably within 2 days of symptoms)


• Swallow capsules whole with water


• Can be taken with or without food (preferably with food to reduce nausea)

Dosage & Administration

• Treatment: usually twice daily for 5 days


• Prevention: once daily for 10 days


• Dose depends on body weight and condition


• Immunocompromised patients may require longer duration

Missed Dose Instructions

• Do not take a double dose


• Take the missed dose as soon as remembered unless it’s close to the next dose

Warnings & Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to oseltamivir


• Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney disease


• Monitor for unusual behavior (especially in children)


• Not a substitute for flu vaccine

Possible Side Effects

Common:

• Nausea, vomiting


• Headache


• Stomach pain

Serious (rare):

• Severe allergic reactions


• Skin reactions


• Neuropsychiatric symptoms (confusion, hallucinations)

Drug Interactions

Use caution with:

• Chlorpropamide


• Methotrexate


• Phenylbutazone


• Probenecid

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to oseltamivir or any component
