Tip: To further minimize litter tracking, I switched from a plastic waffle mat to a “popcorn”-style throw rug in front of the box. The rug traps more litter, is easy to shake out outdoors, and my cat seems to prefer it—he’s particular about litter sticking between his toes.
- Review: Very helpful for diggers and side pee - Two of my cats are diggers and can spend ten minutes “covering” their poop, and I have a cat who lifts their butt in the air to pee. For both of these reasons, I’ve always used a top entry litter box to avoid spills out of the box.
- This does the trick for the robot! If you’re concerned about needing all high sides for your litter box, the cats kind of step down to get into it so it’s a little deeper than you think. Adding this to the entry worked for my cats, and we’ve never gotten away with less than 12 on all sides of the litter box before.
