Product Description
Xromi contains hydroxycarbamide, which reduces the growth and multiplication of certain bone marrow cells. In sickle cell disease, it helps prevent red blood cells from becoming abnormally sickle-shaped. Xromi is used to prevent complications caused by blood vessel blockage and reduce painful crises and hospitalisation in patients aged over 9 months.

For patients with sickle cell disease aged over 9 months.
How to Use
Xromi should only be prescribed by a specialist experienced in treating blood disorders. Take it exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. It may be taken with or after meals at any time of day, but should be taken consistently at the same time each day.
Dosage & Administration
The usual starting dose for adults, adolescents and children over 9 months is 15 mg/kg of body weight daily. The usual subsequent dose is 20–25 mg/kg daily. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on blood, liver and kidney function tests. Lower doses may be required in older patients or those with kidney disease.
Warnings & Precautions
Regular blood tests and monitoring of liver and kidney function are required during treatment. Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, leg ulcers, vitamin B12 or folic acid deficiency, or have received chemotherapy, radiotherapy or other cancer treatments. Long-term treatment may be associated with secondary blood cancers and skin cancer; protect your skin from the sun and have regular skin checks. Seek urgent medical attention for persistent eye problems, unexplained bruising or bleeding, severe fatigue or breathing difficulties.
Possible Side Effects
Very common or common effects include severe infection, fever or chills, fatigue, pallor, unexplained bruising or bleeding, nausea, headache, dizziness, constipation, skin/nail/mouth darkening, dry skin and hair loss. Other reported effects include leg ulcers, rash, diarrhoea, vomiting, mouth inflammation or ulcers, liver enzyme increases and changes in blood vitamin D or magnesium levels.
Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor if you take other medicines, especially bone marrow-suppressing medicines, chemotherapy or radiotherapy, cancer medicines such as interferon, antiretroviral medicines, or live vaccines.
Contraindications
Do not take Xromi if you are allergic to hydroxycarbamide or any of its ingredients, have severe liver or kidney disease, bone marrow suppression, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking antiretroviral medicines for HIV.
Ingredients
Each 1 mL contains 100 mg hydroxycarbamide. Other ingredients include xanthan gum, sucralose, strawberry flavour, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), sodium hydroxide and purified water.
Storage Instructions
Store in a refrigerator at 2–8°C. Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of the sight and reach of children. Discard any unused contents 12 weeks after first opening.
